Orange Amplification is delighted to announce it will be partnering with Rough Trade to provide sound equipment for artist performances, enabling both iconic British companies to continue to support and champion live music.

Celebrating its fiftieth year, Orange Amplification has always been at the cutting edge of music sound and amplification. The company is renowned for its ‘British tone’ which is revered across the globe and has long been respected for the help, support and encouragement it gives to artists and musicians.

As one of the most respected and loved music retailers, Rough Trade has focused on emphasising the social aspect of exciting music. The independent company has a global reputation hosting free in-store gigs performed with the highest specification of staging and sound equipment. Its stages at Rough Trade East, Nottingham and Bristol Stores will now be graced with a range of Orange Amps.

Stephen Godfroy, Co-Owner, Rough Trade commented “Rough Trade are proud and excited to partner with Orange Amps for all our UK in-store live events. Their independent heritage and five decades of craftsmanship are qualities we’re proud to celebrate with our extensive programme of events, featuring their iconic amps in our Bristol, Nottingham and East London backline spec for bands to enjoy. We look forward to celebrating their 50th Anniversary with them later in the year – here’s to another 50!

The 4 Stroke is the amp for discerning and demanding modern bass players delivering powerful tones with a natural, rounded emphasis, combined with the classic OBC410 the two together produce a highly focused sound giving tons of great low end which allow the mids to shine through.

ALL THEM WITCHES | KADAVAR | WITCH | EARTHLESS | COLOUR HAZE | WE HUNT
BUFFALO | DVNE

Following the biggest year to date, Desertfest London returns for its eighth year. As the
2018 line-up encompassed some of the most legendary and diverse acts the festival has
ever seen, with Napalm Death, Hawkwind and Monster Magnet, to name just a few – the
bar has been raised and the stakes are even higher for the UK’s best stoner rock & doom
festival to pull out all the stops once again. So, with that Desertfest are set to reveal the first
seven acts who will be making up the 2019 edition of the festival, which will be taking over
the streets of Camden Town in a smoke-filled haze throughout the May bank holiday
weekend.

One of the most exciting, genre bending bands of recent time, ALL THEM WITCHES dark
blues sound is one that has given the four-piece a reputation few could ever dream of. The
Nashville natives take their deep Southern groove and effortless straddle the fence of
psychedelia, blues and hard rock with unrivalled precision. Their live performance etched its
way into our memory like few who have come before them, so we are beyond excited to
share their musical genius at Desertfest; ALL THEM WITCHES are forging their own path and
we highly recommend jumping on the journey, because it’s definitely going somewhere
special.

An extremely welcome return to Desertfest since their performance way back in 2013 is the
mighty KADAVAR. One of our favourite bands to get down with, these Berlin rockers bring
out the boogie like a jammin’ beast that just got out of its cage. A retro revival with the
power of a ten-tonne truck, KADAVAR shared the following about being asked to join the DF
weekend once again: “We’re very excited to return London next year as part of an amazing
line up! It has been a while now. We will be bringing new songs to the island and look
forward to partying with you!! See you soon!”

Iconic doom quartet WITCH will bring its Sabbath-come-Zeppelin-influenced hard rock
sounds to British shores for the first time in over a decade at Desertfest 2019. With
Dinosaur Jr’s very own J. Mascis at the rhythmic and creative helm, music industry maverick
and bass master Dave Sweetapple, Kyle Thomas on vocals and Graham Clise on guitar, their
self-titled debut album struck its cords deep into the heart of the doom scene. Desertfest
are truly honoured to be playing host to the return of WITCH, the band have released some
of the most hook-heavy songs of the modern age and despite rarely playing live, their
seminal stoner rock sound will be a performance to remember.

Desertfest are extremely excited to welcome psych-pioneers EARTHLESS to the festival for
the very first time. The San Diego based trio have recently pushed things to a new level with
their latest offering ‘Black Heaven’. EARTHLESS are an undeniably mind-melting force to be
reckoned with and have been a long-awaited band for the Desertfest bill, drummer Mario
Rubacala shares: ‘Hello Desert “feasters” Earthless will be making our way out to you all for
Desertfest next year! Delighted to make some noise for you all and add to the musical feast!
See you there!’

COLOUR HAZE will also be joining the 2019 proceedings, with one of the most incredible
psychedelic light shows accompanying their perfectly tripped-out sound. Plus on the bill will
be Vancouver fuzz lovers WE HUNT BUFFALO, whose brand of prog-minded fuzz rock has
been stampeding out of amps and trampling audiences since 2010 plus Edinburgh’s melodic
sludge monsters DVNE.

Orange Amplification is pleased to introduce the great sounding OBC112, the latest additionto be added to their growing arsenal of bass cabinets. The highly successful OBC Series are the go to cabs for Orange Ambassadors such as Geddy Lee (Rush), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) and John McVie  (Fleetwood Mac).

As a builder of cabinets that have been industry standards for five decades, Orange understands that size, shape and design, plus the materials used, play an enormous part in shaping the sound a cabinet produces. Ordinarily, the larger the cab, the bigger the sound. This new, smaller bass cab neatly combines portability and solid construction with a big sound that belies its size.

Thiste rear porting cab features the outstanding Lavoce Neodymium 12” Speakers. These thump out a remarkably hefty sound, producing plenty of volume and a surprising amount of bottom, particularly when stacked. Built for the bass player who needs some firepower, from classic rock to thrash metal, this cab can handle anything while delivering excellent performance every time.

Built for a life on the road, the OBC112 is constructed from 15mm birch ply making it extremely light and easily transportable. Craftsman built, this is a quality cab that will withstand the rigors of the road without the back-breaking weight. Whatever the conditions, no matter how tough the tour, regardless what demands are placed on it, the OBC will keep playing on.

Its classic Orange styling, the iconic livery, the basket weave vinyl, acoustic grill cloth and signature picture frame edge, make it immediately recognisable and sure to stand out from the crowd. Any bass player reliant on a massive bottom end for their sound, looking for a lightweight cabinet needs an Orange OBC112 in their rig.

The distinctive British tones of Orange Amplification are coveted across the globe. Musical groups including Grateful Dead, Tyler Bryant and The Shakedown, and Marcus King Band, are delighted to join the prestigious ranks of Orange Ambassadors.

Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown band are known for their electrifying classic rock revivalism and have performed alongside AC DC, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and  ZZ Top. They are currently supporting Guns N’ Roses on the Not In This Lifetime world tour. Orange recently caught up with the band and you can see front man and killer guitarist Tyler Bryant talking about his Rockerverb MKIII 100 here. Fellow bandmate and guitarist, the fleet fingered Graham Whitford uses a Dual Dark 50 which you can see here and the bands talented bassist Noah Denney talks about his AD200 MK3 here.

Also, joining Orange’s highly respected list of Ambassadors is guitar phenomenon Marcus King and fellow bandmate, bassist Stephen Campbell,of the Marcus King Band. Marcus is poised to be one of music’s great guitarists; with his remarkable virtuoso talent, he can play blues, rock, R&B, country, soul and more. So he and the Rockerverb MKIII and PPC412 cabinet are ideally suited. Meanwhile Stephen is using Orange AD200 MK3 with OBC810 cabinet to hold down the bands sweet groove. The Marcus King Band is currently touring across the USA.

Another new Ambassador, Bob Weir is appreciating the sounds of his Orange Rocker 15. He describes it as ‘a fun, really flexible little amp for low-volume situations like playin’ electric along with acoustic instruments….’. Bob has been described as the harmonic engine of the Grateful Dead and Dead & Company, with his original ability to make the guitar sound huge. He is currently touring with Dead & Company across the USA.

Whether it’s rock, blues psychedelia, Americana, folk or other music genre, Orange Amplifications clean sounds will appeal to guitarists and bassists alike.

When PMT Manchester asked Orange Amplification to help raise funds for the We Love Manchester Charity, the company was delighted to be able to donate a signed CR60C Combo for a charity auction. The auction took place on Saturday 7th July, and the amp, signed by some of the Orange Ambassadors who performed at Download 2017, was sold for £1050.

PMT Manchester Store Manager Andy ‘Beef’ Hartwell said ‘PMT Manchester and Orange have a long-standing friendship. I wasn’t prepared for the generosity of Cliff Cooper and James Deacon giving me a £400 amp signed by Artists at Download festival last year. The amp donation reached £1050 at auction that night. A terrific success only possible with the help of our friends at Orange Amps.’

The one of a kind amp was signed by Brent Hinds of Mastodon and Vman (Alessandro Venturella) from Slipknot. Other signatures on the amp were Billy Martin from Good Charlotte, Steve Micciche from Every Time I Die, Vidar Landa, Bjarte Lund Rolland and Maciek Ofstad guitarists with Kvelertak and Bryan Giles and David Sullivan guitarists with Red Fang. Other autographs were Kelby Ray from Cadillac Three and Kevin Antreassian of Dillinger Escape Plan.

The We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, was created after the Manchester Area attack to help relieve financial hardship among the victims and survivors of the disaster including families and dependents of those killed or injured and to relieve physical and mental sickness or disability of the victims and their dependents.

Cliff Cooper, CEO and founder of Orange Amplification said ‘the Manchester Arena attack touched us all in many different ways, we at Orange were delighted to be able to help with the donation of this unique, one off, signed CR60C Combo.’

Orange Amplification are delighted to introduce guitarist and singer-songwriter Francesca Simone as their latest Ambassador. She has played onstage with Kehlani, accompanied Beyoncé on the Formation World Tour, and recently performed alongside her at Coachella. In Simone’s school yearbook, she was voted ‘most likely to be famous’ by her classmates. This prophecy has certainly come true as she sets the world on fire with passionate guitar playing and knack for fusing pop, rock, and jazz to produce fat, perfect notes full of Californian sunshine.

Last month Simone’s debut music video featuring her own composition ‘Still premiered on Billboard and you can see her latest Orange amps video here – https://youtu.be/VPhKwAss8Ys. Her distinctive guitar playing is a blend of her bubbly personality and rock star shredding ability threaded through with a vibrant street style. This has put her at the forefront of popular music, and she continues to collaborate with a variety of artists and producers on projects in addition to her own.

The Rockerverb MKIII Combo 50 she will be using on stage is perfectly suited to her effervescent style and sparkling sound. Talking about her Orange Amp Simone said ‘The first time I played through the Rockerverb I was blown away by the depth of the sound. The tone is so dynamic; it cuts through but maintains its warmth…one of a kind. Orange helps me get my signature tone that I’ve been looking for all these years. And I’m all about bright colors so the orange color is the cherry on the top!!’.

The bright shades of Orange are set to be one of this summer’s hottest trends. Their vivid sound will be helping to inject a buzz into many festivals and concerts across the world.

Unsigned acts to be heard in Firestone’s Battle of the Bands!

Unsigned music acts and artists across the UK are being given the breakthrough opportunity of a lifetime with Firestone, whose Battle of the Bands competition is back for another year featuring Orange Amplification’s Wolf Alice bassist Theo Ellis.

Firestone’s Battle of the Bands will provide hundreds of acts with the opportunity to showcase their musical skills, with the iconic tyre brand now promising to build on the successes of the past two years like never before.

More than £2,000 worth of invaluable Orange Amplification equipment will be up for grabs for the winning band, not to mention studio time worth around £1,500 and support towards the creation of a bespoke EP album.

Orange Amplification, returning partner Professional Music Technology (PMT) and Firestone will also have the responsibility of judging the entries and agreeing on eight shortlisted acts. A public vote will then decide which three acts will then have the opportunity to perform on the new look artist stage, located in the pre-show entertainment area on the Arena Birmingham concourse, where the final will take place on a date to be confirmed soon.

Battle of the Bands can now be entered at battleofthebands.firestone.eu

Firestone enlisted the support of Orange Amplification, who celebrate their 50th anniversary next year, alongside one of their endorsed artists, Theo Ellis, to add their voice and support to the promotion.

Firestone’s Battle of the Bands was created to give unsigned acts a chance to shine, with its ‘Be Heard’ strapline created to give musicians a chance to do exactly that – and hopefully make their big industry breakthrough.

Battle of the Bands will officially launch today (29 September 2017) with eight shortlisted acts eventually being selected after an October 22 closing date. The competition will then be opened out to an online public vote from November 13 to 23, with the top three going forward as the finalists to play on the Firestone Stage in the pre show entertainment area on the Arena Birmingham concourse on a date to be confirmed soon. An overall winner will then be announced in front of the biggest crowd they will have played to, at the famous indoor venue.

Firestone’s brand manager Stuart Attfield said: “This will be our third Battle of the Bands competition and we are looking forward to it being our biggest and best yet.

“Music is ingrained in our DNA and dates back to our Voice of Firestone radio show in America many years ago. We are passionate about giving talented bands a journey to the main stage, which is why Battle of the Bands is such a vital competition for us.

“We wanted to build on two really successful years and engage with even more ‘grassroots’ musicians than previously. Our new ‘Be Heard’ strapline is particularly fitting as we think that every single artist should get the chance to have their own sound amplified to a big audience. Battle of the Bands will make sure that this will be the case for so many acts.

“Both Theo and Orange Amplification will supplement the existing partnerships we have with Professional Music Technology and Arena Birmingham, so we really hope this year’s event will be more memorable than ever.”

Ahead of the start of a heavy touring schedule to promote the release of Wolf Alice’s second album, Visions Of A Life, Theo Ellis said: “With small gig venues closing and bedroom music become increasingly accessible, Firestone’s Battle of the Bands is a cool opportunity for musicians to make and put their music out there to be physically heard. Music fans get to hear fresh new bands, that discovery is exciting for everyone involved in music and it’s great it’s being promoted here.”
