TWIN CHANNEL, HIGH GAIN PREAMP DESIGN

The Dirty channel features four carefully-crafted stages of gain and the same powerful Shape control first seen on our Thunderverb series. Sweeping the midrange from scooped to boosted, this all-in-one control makes fine-tuning your distorted tones easier than ever before. This channel remains unerringly focussed, steeped in complex harmonic overtones even at maximum gain settings.

The non-master volume Clean channel is a 2-stage design with a 2-band EQ, delivering sweet, crystalline cleans right up to the point of breakup, and classic crunch when pushed over the top. This channel works flawlessly with the EL34 power section to offer a great selection of more vintage tones with massive headroom.

With four EL34 valves and our famously heavy-duty proprietary transformers, the TH100’s hard-hitting and articulate 100 Watt power amp can also be switched down to 70, 50 or 30 Watts (using the 4 Valve/2 Valve switch and Full/Half Power modes). An Entire Bi-Amp Bass Rig In a Pedal

Back in the good ol’ days, it was a popular practice to send a bass guitar signal to a bass amp and a guitar amp at the same time – known as Bi-Amping. This allows the player to keep their low end deep, clean and defined whilst amplifying the mids and top end separately, adding distortion or crisp highs with total control.

This type of setup can produce some enormous tones but typically requires a huge and complicated rig, only possible if you’re Rock ‘n’ Roll royalty. But, if you have to get all this together by yourself? Forget it!

Vintage Fuzz

Loosely based on the vintage Foxx Tone Machine, the Orange Fur Coat Fuzz takes its inspiration from the great fuzz pedals of the 70’s.

The Fur Coat gives you a fully controllable octave fuzz pedal. Separate switches mean you can choose between Fuzz or Octave Fuzz. The controllable Octave up fuzz means you can bring in the fuzz to whatever level you need and the EQ allows you to boost your Treble or Bass. This truly is a fuzz you control.

This is our only True Bypass pedal. This is because a Fuzz is better at the beginning of the chain where it interacts directly with your guitar. Placing the pedal further into your signal chain or after a buffer will give the fuzz a more distorted tone.

Vintage Fuzz:

The Orange Fur Coat fuzz can be used into a clean amp or an amp with some hair. When used into an overdriven amp, it creates a unique, thick “fur coat” of vintage fuzz.

Adjustable Octave:

Something quite rare, rather than simply being able to switch it on/off, the Fur Coat adds octave up as you increase the octave control.

LOW POWER CONSUMPTION:

The Orange Fur Coat fuzz draws very little current (much less than 10mA) allowing for long battery life. Use a regulated 9-12V DC centre-negative power supply.

It sounds absolutely phenomenal.

I’ve tried every fuzz pedal on the planet. This is my new favorite. The Fur Coat is everything I expected Orange would do with an octave fuzz. It’s seriously gnarly

‘Scuse me while I kiss the sky!” Channel your inner Jimi with the new Orange Fur Coat Fuzz / Octave pedal. This pedal is a great representation of the octavo clone on one side, and a screaming fuzz face style pedal on the other. Stacked together these effects take your mind back to the late 60’s and 70’s with a wide range of fuzz tones from funky to frantic, complimented with helping create beefy rhythms to soaring solos. The ability to roll the volume back and go from a clean blues to a speaker blowing fuzz with just your guitar is great for dynamics and versatility.

This pedal is helping me create tones I would never have a chance of doing with just my “go to” Rockerverb and no pedal set up. Bypass Switch

A ’70s amp in a box

The Getaway Driver is an amp-in-a-box type pedal with just three dials – Volume, Bite (tone) and Gain. While the pedal adds its vintage vibe on all amplifiers, it really excels when used with the amplifier’s clean channel, even ones with a bright cap. It also makes a great clean boost, with lower Gain and higher Volume settings pushing amps over the edge into classic overdrive.

The gain structure is produced using single-ended JFET circuitry running in Class A, just like a valve amp. The input buffer, output buffer and Cab Sim are handled using op-amps, using a charge pump to give 18v of headroom.

The pedal features the same transparent, buffered output used on the Orange Two Stroke and Kongpressor pedals. While the second output is a buffered Cab Sim/headphone amp which can also work into a PA (via a DI box) or directly into a recording interface. The first output is transparent when bypassed, however, when using the second output, the Cab Sim remains engaged. This means that the Getaway Driver can be used as just a Cab Sim on its own if needed.

The voicing and gain structure of this pedal is based on a cranked modded ’70s valve amp. Running at 9 Volts, the pedal will have the character of EL84 valves, whereas 12 Volts will give an EL34 flavour. Use a regulated 9-12V DC centre-negative power supply.

’70s amp in a box

It sounds like a ’70s amp cranked in a box. It’s voiced on multiple vintage amplifiers, such as a 1972 ‘Pics Only’ Orange Amplifier modified by our technical director, Ade Emsley.

Cab Sim Output

Connect the pedal direct into an audio interface, the PA (via a DI) or just to your headphones. It is modelled on a G12H30 which is a 30 Watt Celestion speaker used in our 1970s Orange cabs. If you’re using this output, it’s actually still active when you’re bypassing the pedal allowing you to use other pedals (such as fuzz and distortion), amplifier preamps (via their FX send) with the Cab Sim only.

Internal button

There’s a button inside the getaway driver that when pushed in, tames the top end to make it better for clean channels with treble bleed caps on the volume which is helpful for amplifiers such as the Orange Rockerverb. It compensates for the extra treble in the amp so it doesn’t overcook the top end.

You have a modified 70s tube amp, cranked and in a box which is all single ended class A. You have an output to go into the clean channel of an amp and one for headphones with CabSim on. You can go into headphones at 1AM in the morning when your neighbours are asleep and get a cranked 70s amp sound from your guitar late at night.

It’s great for writing as you can go straight into a recording interface. Or should have smoulder someone else’s make of amp, you can go straight into the PA or the DI box and just use that as a backup.

I’ve found the Getaway drive to be ideal for the crunch tone I was looking to add to my TH30, the emulated cab output is also awesome to add another layer of guitar directly out of my board through the PA!

That’s frickin’ insane! It has a definite space on any pedalboard.

REDEFINING STANDARDS IN LIVE ACOUSTIC SOUND

Orange Acoustic Pre TC

The Orange Acoustic Pre TC is the world’s first stereo valve acoustic preamp/active DI, offering supreme clarity and unrivalled performance for uncompromising performers. Engineered for both stage and studio use this valve design affords acoustic players the same warmth, natural compression and rich harmonics previously only available to electric guitarists and hi-fi audiophiles.

Channel A is a unique ECC83/12AX7 valve channel for active and passive instruments. The valve circuitry operates in a totally different way to most electric guitar amplifiers and has been designed to amplify a much wider frequency range in order to capture every subtle nuance of acoustic instruments. The tonal effect of the valve can be fine-tuned with the preamp’s ‘Heat’ control which adds gain in the upper mid range and above, whilst also adding subtle compression. This can be used to revoice this channel depending on the playing style. Backing off the Heat offers a warmer attack for flatpickers, whilst turning it up adds more presence and sparkle for fingerstyle.

The analogue solid state Channel B has a different, slightly softer character with outstanding clarity. This channel has inputs for either a microphone or an instrument, and features switchable 48V phantom power. Both channels can be used independently or blended together – perfect for the modern player who combines multiple sound sources.

Each channel has a three-band EQ with a semi-parametric mid control, plus switches to correct feedback issues on stage and phasing problems between dual-source pickups. The tone shaping options have been voiced to perfectly control the natural body and ‘air’ of acoustic instruments, whilst the onboard stereo reverb adds stunning ambience if desired.

On the rear, the preamp features flexible routing options, including independent effects loops and balanced DI outputs for each channel. Handmade in the UK the Orange Acoustic Pre TC has already been a hit with major artists. Prototypes have already gone straight into the touring rigs of Stevie Wonder for use with his Harpejji and fingerstyle jazz guitarist Martin Taylor MBE.
