THE RETURN OF A MODERN CLASSIC

You Kept Asking for It…

The Terror Bass is back and it sounds better than ever. With a valve preamp and a 500W Class D solid state power amp, the all-new Terror Bass sounds closer to our flagship AD200 than ever before.

Though the circuit is completely new, the Terror Bass retains the control layout from the original amp, with the addition of a Clean switch. This reduces gain and smoothes the top-end, giving this super-simple amp an even greater range of tones than its predecessor. From clean Pop sounds through to gritty Rock crunch, the Terror Bass can do it all.

There’s also a -6dB pad switch, meaning active and passive instruments are equally well catered for.

The Terror bass uses a lightweight and efficient Class D power amp, with 500 watts of power into 4 Ohms and 250 Watts into 8 Ohms. Coupled with the Balanced XLR output and valve-driven FX Loop, the Terror bass is perfect for any situation, whether it’s the studio, rehearsal or a life on the road.

It has the low end of the AD200 which is fantastic, it’s got a lot of growl to it, the high end is punchy and very clear it definitely keeps up with AD200 as far as tone goes.

The Terror bass amp is cool because it adds a lot of warmth, it adds a lot of detail, it kind of allows me to shape what i’m doing and give it its best possible presentation.”

“With the Terror bass i have found reliability and tone, they are just flawless in every way.”

Closely Based on the AD200 Bass Amplifier

The preamp section of the Terror Bass is the same valve design as used in the flagship Orange bass amp, the AD200. Just like its all-valve bigger brother, the Terror Bass is a classic, uncomplicated amplifier, designed to give you the best tone.

Class D Power Amplifier

The Terror bass is a 500 Watt hybrid amplifier with a valve preamp and a Class D, solid state power section. All-analogue valve tone in a portable, compact lunchbox head.

Clean Switch

Drive and grit not your thing? Get a crystal clean tone at the flick of a switch.

Pad for Active Basses

The pad switch on the front of the Terror Bass reduces input sensitivity by 6dB, optimising the amp for active or passive basses.

FX Loop

The valve-driven FX loop on the Terror Bass is the perfect tool for creating your ideal signal chain.

Ground Lift

Eliminates any ground loop noise when using the Balanced Output.

“I’ve completely redesigned the Terror Bass to make it much closer to the AD200 front end.”

I’m so glad the days of sh*tty sounding Class D amps is finally over. It’s solid, it sounds big and has everything that I would be looking for!

The 2018 version is considerably more versatile than the original – and it still provides wonderfully organic tones that rockers and retro-inclined bassists alike will love, while breaking neither back nor bank

I really think Orange has nailed it with this amp. I don’t know if we need to break our backs with these all tube things any more, It just doesn’t weigh anything.

The Terror Bass is the latest addition to the much loved, Terror series. It delivers the classic British tone synonymous with Orange, from an ultra-lightweight lunchbox construction.

It sounds so good! Whether you’re a clean player, a finger player, a slap player or you want a lot of gain… it’s cracking.

The tempered grit of the dirty boost paired with the Höfner would be the tone I’d track with all day, every day.

It packs a real sonic punch in a cost effective, easily-transportable package, and its versatility is a real bonus.

“The Orange Terror Bass head and OBC112 Cabinet bring you the iconic tone you’ve come to expect from the brand, but in a size/weight that is conducive to the modern player. With the addition of the clean switch on the amp, you’ve got even more tonal options at your disposal. The cab sounds absolutely huge despite its footprint and weight. All in all, this is how a company listens to the needs of the players, period.”

Class A Optical Compression

The footswitchable compressor control on the Little Bass Thing’s front panel gives players instant access to Orange’s painstakingly developed Class A Optical Compression circuit. By using compression, this amp successfully tricks you into thinking you’re using a tube amp.

The compression successfully tricks you into thinking you’re playing a tube amp.

The pick attack is amazing. The compressor really gets it out. The attack and release are dialed in perfectly.

An Orange bass amp specializing in clean tones.

The built-in optical compressor gives the impression of playing through a tube amp, but without the color and saturation. It’s great for clean and punchy tones.

Orange has come out with a versatile amp that’s good for jazz, funk, RnB…I’m really impressed!

I really don’t want to have to send this back to Orange.

There is as much scope for sounds as there is for power, in this tiny little package.

For the rockers out there, this amp is as gig-friendly as you could hope for, and with plenty of grind and bite on tap, a colourful, harmonically rich bass tone is guaranteed.

OB1-500

LEAVE THE OTHER AMP AT HOME…

For years bassists have been combining guitar and bass amps to remarkable effect, adding harmonics and layers of overdrive from a guitar amp to their core bass tone in pursuit of the ultimate live sound. This ‘bi-amp’ trend got us thinking… Why drag two amps to the show when you could take just one? The result is the OB1 Series of class A/B rack mountable bass heads which take care of this and much more besides.

The key to the OB1’s unique sound is our footswitchable Blend circuit which adds a veneer of controllable gain and increased harmonic content to the upper registers of the input signal. The lower frequencies and clean signal are left alone, staying warm and clear just as they would be in a ‘bi-amped’ setup. Depending on where the Gain and Blend controls are set, the possibilities are limitless. Punch in the Blend control to achieve anything from a transparent clean boost, to all-out filthy grind, and everywhere in between.

OB1-500 shares the same layout and 2U rack dimensions as the less powerful OB1-300, coupled to a full fat 500 Watt output section to move some serious air.

“The OB1 sounds great straight out of the box. You always anticipate having to tweak something but it’s so user friendly.”

Features:Rack mountable (2U) ‘bi-amp’ inspired bass head with footswitchable Gain & Blend controls, active 3 band EQ, balanced DI & line level outputs
Front Panel (Right to Left):Instrument Input with Active/Passive Switch, Gain, Blend, Bass, Middle, Treble, Volume, Footswitch Input, Mains Switch
Rear Panel (Right to Left):Speaker Outputs (Speakon), 1/4″ Line Output, Balanced Output with Ground Lift Switch
Speaker Output Options:Minimum 4 Ohm: 1 x 8 Ohm, 2 x 8 Ohm, 1 x 4 Ohm
Output Power:500 Watts, Class A/B
Finish Options:White powder coated steel chassis (2U 19″ Rack mountable)

Unboxed Weight:10.1kg (22.26lb)

Orange’s OB1-500 should already be considered one of the company’s standout offerings.

OB1-300 is the 300 Watt version, sharing the same features and 2U rack dimensions as the more powerful OB1-500.

Key Features

‘Bi-amp’ Inspired Design

The OB1 splits the input instrument signal into two separate paths. One amplifies the clean signal, with all the clarity you would expect from Orange. The other adds stages of gain to the upper harmonics only, controllable via the amp’s Gain knob. These two elements are combined using the amplifier’s Blend control which adjusts the balance between clean and dirty. The Blend control can then be remotely engaged or defeated using the optional footswitch.

The Gain and Blend’s range allows for almost anything, from a subtle level boost to cut through the mix, added girth and presence at moderate settings to fatten up chorus passages, to fully saturated savagery at the extremes. However you dial it in, the OB1 always maintains the critical low end definition, right the way up to the most offensive settings!

Active EQ

The OB1’s highly responsive active three band EQ has been meticulously voiced for maximum effect and minimal fuss. The EQ section is located after the Gain and Blend in the circuit, allowing full tonal control over the entire range of sounds. The Bass and Middle controls feature +/-15dB of boost or cut, whilst there is a range of +/- 20dB on the Treble control.

All Analogue Signal Path

The OB1 Series puts proper Class A/B power back on the map. All circuitry is completely analogue, ensuring these amps sound expressive and musical even at ridiculous gain levels.

Rack Mountable

The OB1 Series are our first rack mountable amps, suitable for 19″ cases. Enclosed in a rugged power coated steel chassis the fascia is finished in our classic ‘pics only’ styling

Although very much a rock amp, anyone with old-school guitar-band leanings would be happy to have one of these sitting atop their stack.

SHORT SIGNAL PATH | UNCOMPLICATED DESIGN | OUR FLAGSHIP BASS AMP

PURE BASS

The AD200B MKIII is quite simply one of the purest valve bass amplifiers ever produced. Designed on the premise that the best tone often comes from the shortest signal path from guitar to speaker, this classic, uncomplicated design features inputs for both active and passive instruments and a simple but effective EQ.

With four 6550 output valves pushing 200 Watts of power, the AD200B has a deep, dynamic low-end with a creamy yet focused mid-range. The now-iconic gain structure reveals a wide spectrum of vintage and modern tones, from mellow hues perfect for flatwound strings, through to heavy, percussive growl. Whatever the situation, there is no shortage of punch, which is just one of the reasons why the AD200B has appeared on some of the world’s biggest stages.

Short Signal Path

A well thought out design and carefully positioned components allow for some of the most organic tones you’ll find in any of the world’s best bass amplifiers. Whatever bass or style of music you play, the character of your instrument is always faithfully retained.
