We have been overwhelmed by the wonderful generosity so many of you have shown in entering our competition in support of Little Kids Rock.

The sweepstakes raised $3140 – enough to serve an additional 125 kids with free music lessons this year!

Thomas “Jay” Gleaton from Atlanta, GA was the winner of the customized Dual Terror signed by members of Primus. This former music teacher donated enough to put a new acoustic guitar into a local classroom. He is a bass player and he said that hearing Primus is what made him want to pick up an electric bass in the first place.

“Little Kids Rock is so grateful to Primus and Orange Amps for supporting our kids!” says Little Kids Rock CEO and Founder, David Wish. “With the funds raised from this sweepstakes, nearly 125 additional public schools students will have access to free musical instruments and lessons, a gift that will last a lifetime!”

Our congratulations to Jay and our sincere thanks to everybody who donated to this very special cause.

About Little Kids Rock

Little Kids Rock is a national nonprofit that seeks to build a world where kids can live rich, purposeful lives, and won’t rest until all children have the opportunity to unlock their inner-music makers. The organization partners with economically-disadvantaged public school districts to train their teachers to run innovative Modern Band music programs. This includes donating all of the instruments, curricula and resources necessary to run rockin’ music programs rooted in popular music, with a heavy emphasis on improvisation, composition and approximation. To date they have served more than 300,000 students in 12 states. More info at http://www.littlekidsrock.org

For one weekend a year, this weekend in fact – The gorgeous Peak District countryside becomes home to the Y Not Festival. Y Not is the Small, Fresh & Loud music festival, with a fantastic atmosphere and a history of amazing live acts. This year Orange Amps are helping to provide the back line.

There has been steady, organic growth since it began life as a gathering of young people attending an overspilling house party in deepest, darkest, Derbyshirest, Derbyshire. But it does retain the carefree, good-time atmosphere of those original, dawning years.

The festival is still run by the same small team of passionate enthusiasts it was all those years ago (albeit a little older and a little wiser), but with the same ethos at heart – great people having a great time makes a great festival.

Stunning panoramic views of the countryside, a fully stocked bar of local ales and ciders, a mouth-watering selection of food and more live music than you could ever possibly take in all through the finest Orange Amplifiers.

All you need to provide is the memories (and a killer fancy dress outfit).

Y not is held on 1st -3rd August 2014 at Pikehall, Derbyshire DE4 2PH. Click HERE for more information

When Orange Amplification proudly launched the DIVO VT1000 Valve Tester at Winter NAMM 2013 they knew they were on to something good, but little did they realise the storm it would create in the music industry over the coming months. The VT1000 has become one of the most talked about music accessories in years and has now sold over 10,000 units worldwide.

The VT1000 is a compact, easy to use, fully automatic valve tester where users can easily match and test the wear of valves. Its appeal has been far reaching with guitarists and their techs, rental companies, valve amp manufacturers and Hi-Fi specialists everywhere quickly realising its immense benefits.

The VT1000 won the 2013 Music & Sound Award for Best Accessory and also won the approval of magazine reviewers too. MusicRadar.com believes it is ‘the first and possibly only valve tester that anyone can use without any specialist knowledge’ and gave it four stars in its review. According to Guitar and Bass magazine ‘If your interest in valve amplifiers goes beyond merely playing through them, it’s a wonderful tool to have’ and scored it ninety-one out of a possible one hundred’.

It has been with the music industries guitar techs that the VT1000 has been making big waves. Michael Kaye (The Who, Paul Simon, Shania Twain) commented “Orange’s VT1000 saves time and money – and helps get your amplifier working it’s best, the way you need it.Mike Clement (Tony Iommi, David Gilmour Band, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Jeff Beck Band) agreed when he said ‘The Orange VT1000 valve tester will become an essential piece of kit for the professional guitar / amp technician’s workbench…. in both the workshop and out on the road. The VT1000 is going to make life a lot easier from now on!’. Drew Foppe (Fleetwood Mac, Deftones) said ‘It has already paid for itself in tube matching fees and tubes that I would have simply ended up getting rid of because I didn’t know if they were any good or not.

It’s not only the techs that have recognised how great this new tool is. Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher observed ‘I found the Orange tube tester easy to comprehend and incorporate in the testing of all the tubes in my amp giving me a value to each and able to match tubes for best performance in a nice small package’ and John Henry’s in-house repair specialist Dan Knight said it’s ‘A great little bit of kit that is simple to use, does the job and is used daily without any problems  – it makes prepping & repairing amps a whole lot easier’.

To find out why SonicState.com said ‘I think there will also be a large group of people who will think the VT1000 is one of the best things since sliced bread’ go to http://www.orangeamps.com/ and find out what all the fuss is about.

2000 people flocked to the O2 in London on 16th June to witness The Orange sponsored Golden Gods Awards 2014.

As in previous years they were an enormous success, with the Orange booth once again proving to be a major attraction. Images from our booth can be found on our Facebook Page, so if you struck a pose, check it out and see if you can find yourself.

This year, we ran a competition on the night with people being offered the chance to win a CRPRO 120 Head with a PPC212OB cabinet in exchange for the best pout of the night. (It was an 80s theme – don’t blame us!)  Three finalists were chosen from the many entries and were invited up onto the stage, where Steel Panther, (with some help from the audience) chose our worthy winner.

Check out Sam’s winning pout below.

The event had some awesome live performances from bands including Dillinger Escape Plan and Black Stone Cherry as well as an appearance by Darth Vader himself, David Prowse.

Sean Z (page)

Guitarist, song writer, producer and band director, Sean Z has been busy of late. Following a successful tour of North America, the Vancouver based guitarist is currently touring Singapore and Malaysia with Wanting, a rising star in China.

Wanting Qu (also known as Qu Wanting; Chinese 曲婉婷) (October 10, 1983 in Harbin, Heilongjiang) is a Chinese-Canadian pianist, singer and songwriter based in Vancouver. In 2009, she became the first Chinese artist to be signed to the Nettwerk label; she is managed by Terry McBride. Her first album, Everything In The World (jointly released with Universal Music China in 2012) went platinum in China within its first week on sale, and her singles You Exist in My Song and Drenched were used in the soundtrack for the Hong Kong film Love in the Buff. Qu was raised in Harbin, but came to Canada at 16 to study.

Vancouver-based singer-songwriter, Wanting, releases her first full-length studio album, Everything In The World, on Nettwerk Records. Wanting, a self-taught musician with a voice similar to that of Chantal Kreviazuk, Anna Nalick, and Christina Perri, has been recognized in the early stages of her career. Having already sound-tracked the upcoming Chinese film Love in the Buff, appeared on a Mercedes Benz sampler, and amassed combined views of millions on Chinese YouTube, she is an artist to be on the lookout for. Wanting’s piano-swept music has won a following because her compositions pop musings that plumb emotion & resonate universally. The lilting first single “Life Is Like a Song” is a reflection on life s ebbs and flows and the cascading song “Drenched,” is about surrendering oneself to love. Meanwhile, “You Exist in My Song,” sung in Mandarin, is about old friends alive in one’s thoughts.
