“I first fell in love with Orange amps back around 2013 from wanking around with one at the NAMM show. For me, the holy grail was the tiny little 1000-watt Terror Bass head. I mean… A THOUSAND WATTS?! Are you kidding?! Whenever I walk into a venue with my cute little purse-sized Orange bass amp and tell the sound engineer that it’s A THOUSAND WATTS, they drop their jaws. Like yeah, I said a thousand watts – obviously I didn’t come here to fuck around.
Haha! I’ve been bringing one on the road with me every tour for the past several years now in my band Frankie and the Witch Fingers. It’s been a total life-saver several times for me (and for some of our opening bands), and it sounds like a real motherfucker through my 4 x 12″ Fender pyramid bass cab. It’s a hybrid-style amp which means it’s solid state with a tube preamp. I really like knowing I’ve got tube power working for me, and I’m able to overdrive it in the way that I like to get that bit of growl when I want to dig in. It’s also switchable from 4ohms to 8ohms which has been crucial when I’ve had to switch out speaker cabs unexpectedly on the road.” – Nikki Pickle
