The Orange Agency (1969)

The Orange Agency booked top artists like Joe Cocker into iconic London venues and managed UK and European tours during the 1970s.

Cliff Cooper, Founder & CEO, remembers: “By forming the Orange Agency, my plan was to link up all the music-related activities we’d already started. There were some vacant rooms above the Orange Shop at 4 New Compton Street, so I acquired an existing agency run by Bob Anderson and Bob Hurd and moved them in above the shop. They immediately got to work booking bands and artists into venues across the country.”

Growing Fast, Booking Big

“The business took off quickly, and before long we were booking full tours. We landed Joe Cocker a slot at The Pheasantry club on King’s Road in Chelsea, which led to us becoming the sole booking agents for the venue. From there, things escalated: we began booking acts into major London clubs like the Speakeasy and The Marquee, and even started flying in big-name artists from the US to tour across Europe.”
