Did you know that in the beginning Orange started a successful record label, opened a shop, built Orange  recording studios, Orange publishing, Orange Hire and Orange Booking Agency? They even made Beach Buggies, one of which they kept and used for promotional purposes. Fascinating facts about all these activities and more are detailed in the Orange History alongside vintage pictures which really give a feel of the exciting times in which Orange was born.

For sound aficionados the Orange History offers loads of interesting information about how the distinctive Orange sound was shaped and developed in 1969, including how a Harley Street hearing specialist solved a mystery!

During the early years many famous musicians would visit and hang out in the Orange Shop, and many used Orange amps and speakers. The Orange History is packed with charming snippets and rarely seen images of the who’s who of rock and roll including rare pictures of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Zapper, Paul Kosoff and loads more.

Over the decades the brand has seen the launch of many new, innovative and revolutionary products and has grown exponentially into a global amplification company, receiving many awards and accolades, including a record three Queens Awards for Export and Innovation. The company’s many achievements are listed chronologically on the Orange History page giving an insight into its continuing success.

The new page makes for intriguing reading, not least because it clearly illustrates the company’s forward looking perspective and the use of ‘future’ technology. CEO and Founder, Cliff Cooper’s favorite mantra has always been  ‘what’s new and what’s next?’. The Orange brand will always be about the sound of the sound, high quality products with durability and its successes continuing to point the way ahead.

Orange Amplification’s latest new products, the TremLord 30 and Pedal Baby are receiving rave reviews worldwide and are already proving to be a hit with artists.

The TremLord 30, Orange’s most vintage guitar amp ever, is a 30w 1×112 all valve guitar combo with built-in valve driven tremolo and reverb. Talking about the fifties inspired amp, John Bohlinger, Premier Guitar, says “I really like its simplicity, tone and its ear candy tremolo… what else do you want?”

In his review for the same magazine, Gear Editor, Charles Saufley described the TremLord as “putting a new spin on the signature Orange sound with brighter, more articulate tones, greater headroom, multi-speed trem and sopping wet reverb… in a unique and soulful way”. James Bagshaw (Temples) commented “When I think of Orange I think of gain. This amp has turned that on its head, it’s crystal clear” and Kelby Ray (Cadillac Three) said “I love that Orange build amps with so few knobs… the new TremLord creates awesome warm sounds with a nice rich overdrive… it sounds great”.

The Pedal Baby 100 is a 100w solid state, Class A/B compact power amp designed for touring. Guitar magazine gave it their Editor’s Choice Award and described it as “a compact, user-friendly slab of tonal reassurance for the pedal-happy guitarist… it handles everything with poise… and with trouser flapping volume!” Colin of CSGuitars describes the Pedal Baby as “the fly-in solution for touring musicians needing a lightweight, compact power amp that can drive a 16 Ohm cabinet with enough headroom to amplify their pedal board or effects processor for those upcoming summer festival dates”. Tim Bertsch (Jaded Mary & Soul Resonance) said “My Orange Pedal Baby is a mighty powerhouse capable of producing thundering, earth shaking volume all while maintaining pristine clarity from 1 to 10!… I can configure it in a myriad of ways to fit whichever sonic application I am looking for”.

Orange Amplification was delighted to provide the amps for the recent celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles last public performance. Students of LIPA Sixth Form College (LSFC) brought shoppers to a standstill as they performed on the rooftop of Starbucks at Liverpool ONE shopping centre.

The Beatles performance in 1969 took place on the roof of Apple Corp’s Savile Row office in London while filming for their movie Let it Be, and features five songs. The LSFC celebration featured nine bands playing Beatles material from across their entire career.

Cliff Cooper, CEO and founder of Orange Amplification and Honorary Patron of The Strawberry Field Charity campaign said, ‘I am delighted that Orange was able to support this event. It is wonderful to see young people enjoying playing music and taking part in an event to celebrate The Beatles legacy.’

Orange Amplification proudly present the Pedal Baby 100. A 100W class A/B power amplifier, designed for the touring musician. Neutral-sounding but still flattering, it’s perfect for guitarists running pedal boards, modellers or digital processors. Light, compact and built for the road; fly dates and changing venues are all taken in its stride. See the product demo video here.

  • CLASS A/B POWER AMP: While Class D amps are favoured for their efficiency, Class A/B amps have a certain “feel” that you can’t get any other way. The Pedal Baby 100 gives guitarists back the dynamics, punch and natural sound that is missing in modern power amps. Plus, Class A/B amps produce real power through standard guitar cabs; 100W into 8 ohms and 70W into 16 Ohms, to be precise.
  • CLASS A FRONT END: Inspired by valve amp design, the Pedal Baby 100 uses a Class A, single-ended front end. Forget sterile-sounding Solid State amps, the Pedal Baby 100 keeps all of your tone’s mojo, then adds a bit more.
  • EQ DESIGNED FOR PEDALS: Different to traditional guitar amplifiers, the EQ has been designed to be flatter and more neutral. At 12 o’clock (neutral) the EQ cuts out allowing the tone to be exactly what your pedals define. With a responsive Bass and Treble control, guitarists can tune their cabinet to get the tone they’re looking for.
  • PEDAL BABY: SMALL AND PORTABLE: Weighing around 3KG and powering big cabs on big stages, the Pedal Baby 100 is the perfect amp for fly dates or any guitarist travelling light. Downsize your rig, not your tone.

TICKETS for NOW ON SALE – http://www.desertfest.co.uk/tickets (Desertfest is 3rd-5th May 2019)

ALL THEM WITCHES | KADAVAR | WITCH | EARTHLESS | COLOUR HAZE | WE HUNT
BUFFALO | DVNE

Following the biggest year to date, Desertfest London returns for its eighth year. As the
2018 line-up encompassed some of the most legendary and diverse acts the festival has
ever seen, with Napalm Death, Hawkwind and Monster Magnet, to name just a few – the
bar has been raised and the stakes are even higher for the UK’s best stoner rock & doom
festival to pull out all the stops once again. So, with that Desertfest are set to reveal the first
seven acts who will be making up the 2019 edition of the festival, which will be taking over
the streets of Camden Town in a smoke-filled haze throughout the May bank holiday
weekend.

One of the most exciting, genre bending bands of recent time, ALL THEM WITCHES dark
blues sound is one that has given the four-piece a reputation few could ever dream of. The
Nashville natives take their deep Southern groove and effortless straddle the fence of
psychedelia, blues and hard rock with unrivalled precision. Their live performance etched its
way into our memory like few who have come before them, so we are beyond excited to
share their musical genius at Desertfest; ALL THEM WITCHES are forging their own path and
we highly recommend jumping on the journey, because it’s definitely going somewhere
special.

An extremely welcome return to Desertfest since their performance way back in 2013 is the
mighty KADAVAR. One of our favourite bands to get down with, these Berlin rockers bring
out the boogie like a jammin’ beast that just got out of its cage. A retro revival with the
power of a ten-tonne truck, KADAVAR shared the following about being asked to join the DF
weekend once again: “We’re very excited to return London next year as part of an amazing
line up! It has been a while now. We will be bringing new songs to the island and look
forward to partying with you!! See you soon!”

Iconic doom quartet WITCH will bring its Sabbath-come-Zeppelin-influenced hard rock
sounds to British shores for the first time in over a decade at Desertfest 2019. With
Dinosaur Jr’s very own J. Mascis at the rhythmic and creative helm, music industry maverick
and bass master Dave Sweetapple, Kyle Thomas on vocals and Graham Clise on guitar, their
self-titled debut album struck its cords deep into the heart of the doom scene. Desertfest
are truly honoured to be playing host to the return of WITCH, the band have released some
of the most hook-heavy songs of the modern age and despite rarely playing live, their
seminal stoner rock sound will be a performance to remember.

Desertfest are extremely excited to welcome psych-pioneers EARTHLESS to the festival for
the very first time. The San Diego based trio have recently pushed things to a new level with
their latest offering ‘Black Heaven’. EARTHLESS are an undeniably mind-melting force to be
reckoned with and have been a long-awaited band for the Desertfest bill, drummer Mario
Rubacala shares: ‘Hello Desert “feasters” Earthless will be making our way out to you all for
Desertfest next year! Delighted to make some noise for you all and add to the musical feast!
See you there!’

COLOUR HAZE will also be joining the 2019 proceedings, with one of the most incredible
psychedelic light shows accompanying their perfectly tripped-out sound. Plus on the bill will
be Vancouver fuzz lovers WE HUNT BUFFALO, whose brand of prog-minded fuzz rock has
been stampeding out of amps and trampling audiences since 2010 plus Edinburgh’s melodic
sludge monsters DVNE.

Orange Amplification is pleased to introduce the great sounding OBC112, the latest additionto be added to their growing arsenal of bass cabinets. The highly successful OBC Series are the go to cabs for Orange Ambassadors such as Geddy Lee (Rush), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) and John McVie  (Fleetwood Mac).

As a builder of cabinets that have been industry standards for five decades, Orange understands that size, shape and design, plus the materials used, play an enormous part in shaping the sound a cabinet produces. Ordinarily, the larger the cab, the bigger the sound. This new, smaller bass cab neatly combines portability and solid construction with a big sound that belies its size.

Thiste rear porting cab features the outstanding Lavoce Neodymium 12” Speakers. These thump out a remarkably hefty sound, producing plenty of volume and a surprising amount of bottom, particularly when stacked. Built for the bass player who needs some firepower, from classic rock to thrash metal, this cab can handle anything while delivering excellent performance every time.

Built for a life on the road, the OBC112 is constructed from 15mm birch ply making it extremely light and easily transportable. Craftsman built, this is a quality cab that will withstand the rigors of the road without the back-breaking weight. Whatever the conditions, no matter how tough the tour, regardless what demands are placed on it, the OBC will keep playing on.

Its classic Orange styling, the iconic livery, the basket weave vinyl, acoustic grill cloth and signature picture frame edge, make it immediately recognisable and sure to stand out from the crowd. Any bass player reliant on a massive bottom end for their sound, looking for a lightweight cabinet needs an Orange OBC112 in their rig.
