Your awesome tone has arrived, Sir.

Orange Amplification unleash The Bass Butler, an entire Bi-Amp bass rig in a pedal. The new pedal splits the bass guitar signal, at input, into completely separate, parallel, analogue signal chains, just like a real bi-amp rig – without an amp in sight.

The always active ‘Clean’ Bass Channel can be adjusted for compression, bass, treble and volume. An optical compressor circuit, cut/boost tone controls and dedicated, bass cabinet-simulated balanced D.I. output is always on hand with all manner of classic clean tones.

Five smaller knobs control the Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass and Gain (with four stages), of The Bass Butler’s ‘Dirty’ Guitar Channel which can be added with a footswitch. Coupled with a guitar cab-simulated balanced D.I. output and an expression pedal jack for extra control over the input gain, The Bass Butler serves up everything from bright vintage tones to floor-splitting, wall-crumbling modern destruction.

Both channels have XLR balanced output allowing the Bi-Amp bass tone to arrive complete at the mixing desk. The Bass Butler also features an Amp output, which takes a blend of the two channels, set by the volume controls,  before the cabinet simulation circuits from a 1/4” jack, making it perfect for connecting to the front end of any bass amp. This set up means on-stage sound can be controlled completely independently of what the audience hears or the output can be used on its own, just like a plain old preamp pedal. A ‘Ground Lift’ switch eliminates ground hum when The Bass Butler is hooked up to a PA and a bass amp at the same time.

The pedal’s sturdy steel enclosure is made to last a lifetime; it is perfect for in the studio and on the road. The Bass Butler is quite possibly the only pedal bassists will ever need.

With this powerhouse of an amp, bass players can easily add the finishing touches to their sound with simple, engineered precision characteristic of all Orange Amps.

The amp’s built-in Class A Optical Compression circuit, can be controlled by a foot switch (sold separately) or from the front panel. This single dial has a unique sidechain and a response that has been optimized for a bass guitar. It gives the Little Bass Thing excellent dynamic control and a warm, classic feel at subtle or extreme settings. The Class A Optical Compression circuit is a neutrally voiced pre-amp with precise EQ.

The Little Bass Thing also features a buffered FX Loop and studio-quality, balanced D.I. output with a Ground Lift switch to help remove any ground loop issues. There is also a 6dB input pad switch for active basses and hot pickups.

Orange Amplification Founder and CEO, Cliff Cooper has been made an Honoured Friend of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). He was presented with the award by Sir Paul McCartney at a ceremony held on the 26th July 2019 at the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, United Kingdom.

When making the award, Mark Featherstone-Witty of LIPA said, ‘Cliff is our Honoured Friend. This rather special award is given to people who have been generous …….without a hint of expecting anything in return. So Cliff for this award you are an exemplar!…….Putting something back is part of your psyche…….You are a hero and it is good to know there are people like you in the world and even better, associated with us!

Founded in 1968, Orange Amplification was born from Cliff’s love of music and skill as an electronics designer. The company is famous for its British made AD and Rockerverb series and the introduction of the groundbreaking Terror, Crush and Crush Pro series. Many of the world’s greatest guitarists and bassists love and use Orange’s iconic amps including Jimmy Page, Stevie Wonder, Foals, Oasis, Mastodon, Madonna, Jim Root, Billy Gibbons, Geddy Lee, Glenn Hughes, Orianthi and Marcus King to name but a few.

Only 11 Days To Enter!

Orange Amplification, for the third year running is an official partner of the Firestone Road to the Main Stage competition. This contest, once again, offers unsigned music acts the possibility of winning a chance to shine in front of huge new audiences, including a top UK festival slot. Scarlet, runner up in last year’s competition were also lucky enough to become Orange Ambassadors.

Orange and Firestone share the same commitment to discovering and supporting the best new talent in the UK. Together they hope to set one lucky entrant on their road to the main stage! The winners will also receive a VW Transporter van for a year, in-store credit at a Professional Music Technology store, brand new gear from Orange and a contribution to the creation of an EP.

The 2017 winner, Fire Fences and the 2018 winner, John Nicholas gained the chance to play at the All Points East festival in London generating priceless exposure and national media headlines. In total, over the last five years, Firestone has given away more than one hundred and sixty hours of studio recording time.

Orange Amplification’s Marketing Director Charlie Cooper, said: ‘Orange Amps are delighted to be a partner of Firestone’s Road to The Main Stage competition for the third year running. As well as established artists, supporting the best up-and-coming bands has been our commitment as a company since our founding in 1968, and is a value shared and embraced by Firestone. We’re proud to be involved and look forward to discovering this year’s new talent.’

Bands and musicians have only a few days left to impress the experts with their musical prowess. To enter, all aspiring acts need to do is upload their music here by 11th October 2019. The entry rules are simple: to be unsigned and produce original music from any genre. Eight acts will be shortlisted by the official partners plus Abbie McCarthy, Firestone ambassador and TV & radio presenter. A public vote will decide the overall winner. Good Luck from everyone at Orange.

Jimmy Smith of Foals

Orange Amplification ambassadors, leading indie rock band Foals and the up and coming Black Midi have both been nominated for the prestigious 2019 Mercury Prize ‘Albums of the Year’ . The Mercury Prize recognises and celebrates artistic achievement and provides a snapshot of the year in music to help introduce new albums from a range of music genres to a wider audience. Previous winners and nominees include Orange Ambassadors Wolf Alice and Everything Everything.

Festival headliners, Foals album nomination is for Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1 released in March this year. Part 2 is due to be released on the 18th October 2019. Described by critics as the ultimate Foals album Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1 represents a new start for the band musically and showcases their prowess admirably. Guitarist Jimmy Smith uses a Rockerverb 100 head with a PPC412 and touring bassist Jeremy Pritchard uses an OBC810 with an AD200.  Talking about what influenced his choice of Orange Gear Jeremy said, ‘the actual look of the cabinet design and the head design is so distinctive, so you always knew if you were watching someone playing Orange. I used to go to see bands like SUNN 0))) and Sleep, really heavy stoner doom bands and they would always have these very distinctive cabinets and heads on stage. And a lot of those bands, that I was really into and still am, used Orange.’

Newcomers, Black Midi, have been nominated for their debut album Schlagenheim released in June this year. A rough translation of the German title means ‘to hit home’, and it certainly has with critics, being described as close to genius. Guitarists Geordie Greep and Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin use a TH30 Combo, an AD30HTC and a PPC212. Speaking about his Orange kit Geordie said ‘the AD30HTC is one of the most versatile, dynamic and reactive amps I’ve come across so far, the two channel design allows me to set two different tone settings to suit two different guitars if needed. This head also gives me freedom to apply as much drive to the clean, which sets for some really gritty tones which I favour. This amp also projects its lows and mids whilst emitting high treble, resulting in a gargantuan sound. Great amp.’

We wish Foals and Black Midi every success in the 2019 Mercury Awards’ said Daniel Darby, Orange Artist Relations, ‘Orange have always endorsed both established festival headliners as well as the best up and coming bands from different music genres. These nominations are testimony to this.’

Orange Amplification is proud to partner Firestone for the third year running in their Road To The Main Stage Competition.

Firestone is once again giving unsigned music acts a chance to shine in front of huge new audiences – including a top UK festival slot – courtesy of its Road to the Main Stage competition which is back for another year.

The iconic tyre brand will be putting musicians on a journey quite unlike any other, with the winning act not only earning the right to play on the biggest stage of their lives, but also winning a VW Transporter van for a year, in-store credit at a Professional Music Technology store, brand new gear from Orange Amplification and a contribution towards the creation of an EP.

All aspiring acts have to do to enter is upload their music and then wait to discover if they’ve been selected as one of eight shortlisted acts, before a public vote decides an overall winner.

Firestone’s Road to the Main Stage has been developed over five years to give artists a chance to shine, reaching out to more than 2,500 entrants since its inception in 2015 and generating more than 10,000 votes over the last two years.

The competition has evolved to become a campaign of genuine repute and now counts Orange Amplification and Professional Music Technology as official partners.

TV and radio presenter Abbie McCarthy will also return for a third year as the Road to the Main Stage’s ambassador. A respected authority on all things new music, she has her finger on the pulse and will continue to lend her support to Firestone’s discovery of the next wave of unsigned talent.

In five years, Firestone has given away more than 160 hours of studio recording time and more recently given the 2017 and 2018 winners, Fire Fences and John Nicholas, the chance to play at the All Points East festival in London, generating priceless exposure and national media headlines.

Firestone UK’s Brand Manager Sofie Bronserud said: “Now in its fifth year, Road to the Main Stage is a competition which offers so much more than a stand-alone trophy and a soundbite. Our past-winners are now making a name for themselves, shortlisted finalists have been given the confidence to know that they are talented enough to record new music and opportunities are continuing to open up as a result. What separates Road to the Main Stage from so many other grassroots initiatives is the money-can’t-buy opportunities afforded to the winning artists – the competition only truly begins once the triumphant act has been announced.”

Orange Amplification’s Marketing Director Charlie Cooper, said: “Orange Amps are delighted to be a partner of Firestone’s Road to The Main Stage competition for the third year running. As well as established artists, supporting the best up-and-coming bands has been our commitment as a company since our founding in 1968, and is a value shared and embraced by Firestone. We’re proud to be involved and look forward to discovering this year’s new talent.”

Professional Music Technology’s Marketing Manager Jake Marray said: “We’re thrilled to be involved with Firestone’s Road to The Main Stage competition for the 4th year running. The opportunity to support grassroots music and to shine a spotlight on these up and coming artists is really encouraging in a time where musicians are really struggling to get their voices heard in the industry.”
